something old... something new...

All I want for christmas is...
This beautiful minimalistic kitchen. The contrast between the old ceiling and the new design of the kitchen cabinets is outstanding.

monday moods...

Can't get out of my lazy chair. Have to have three cups of coffee, before I can even think about the word WORK...
Am I the only one at the office? I guess so...

playing with energy...

I wish I had invented this.
As part of his senior thesis exhibition at Musashino Art University in Tokyo, art student Yasutoki Kariya re-imagined the ubiquitous desktop gadget, Newton’s Cradle, using a lovely sequence of light bulbs. Entitled Asobi (which translates roughly as “playing“) the 11-bulb installation creates a visual interpretation of the popular toy named after Sir Isaac Newton demonstrating his third law of motion regarding momentum: that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
I think I will use this last line as my quote for today. Just going a little deeper...

[UN] BRAND = BRAND [NEW]

I came across this great project by Andrew Miller called Brand Spirit. For 100 days Miller spray-painted a branded object white, to remove all the logos and branding. Yet some of the objects are still easily reconignized. I have put some of the images together. And I'm now thinking of using them as wallpaper to cover up my old and ugly wall in my study.
Thanks, Andrew Miller for giving me this great idea.

creative combinations

As I was searching the web for stylists doing their own photography, I came accross Heidi Lender.
A photographer that started as a stylist for several magazines and became a photographer since 2009. This is what I really want to do. Doing my own photography on stylingwork.
When I started reading her story, it felt like I was reading my own story.
How I would love to meet her once.
Her first photo is called green dress. The second one is a photo out of a serie she made on working mums related to her own mum. But this one is my favourite. I'ts called lovers. And of course as a purser I just had to have the third one on my blog. Now I can only hope for a flight to Atlanta very soon....

be prepared

So have you gathered all your orange stuff?
In just three day's it's going queensday in Holland. It means that everybody will be dressed up in orange.
Holland will be orange that day. I have selected some orange design suggestions for you.
You better be prepared!

Taste

Today I fell in love with this beautiful picture, made by my friend Antje Pajonk during a workshop she did at imagelab.
The light is so well put together that it makes you want to taste the bread.
A job well done on styling and photography. My compliments, Antje!

Cuban style

Cuban Interior design
Not really my style, although I like the design of the tiles, the colourmixing and the old typewriter.
Well, I just think you can get your inspiration out of anything. Even if it's not really your thing...

The Lloyd Hotel

Yesterday I did the workshop photography of interior design given by Imagelab. I really enjoyed the workshop because we did the photography in the Lloyd Hotel in amsterdam. As a purser working for KLM I stay in lots of hotels around the world. But this is one of my favourite hotels. The hotel mixes old and new design. And that gives you a warm and cosy feeling. The architecture is fantastic. Once you're in the hotel, you can't stop looking at all the beautiful details this hotel has. I suggest you should have lunch there one time.
I did this workshop because I'm a stylist who wants to know more about photography. As you can see I'm still learning. So this time my focus was on photography only, not the styling of the hotel. I hope you will forgive me the stylingwork.
